Anne Bekema

Anne Bekema is one of the two founding partners of Le Poole Bekema. She is an astute and dedicated lawyer. Clients value her analytical skills and the wisdom she brings to the table. She enjoys keeping abreast of technological and legal developments so as to proactively inform and advise her clients.

Anne specialises in intellectual property law, privacy law and media and advertising law. In addition she regularly advises companies on sponsoring, franchising, selective distribution  and unfair competition. Anne is an experienced litigator and frequently represents international sports companies, consumer brands and media companies.

Anne is a member of a number of professional organisations. She often speaks and publishes about her specialisations. Among other publications, she co-authored the European manual “Community Trade Mark Regulation, a commentary”. She is also a board member of the Dutch Foundation “Stichting Ander Beeld”.

Privacy

Anne Bekema and Maurice Joppe advise the STER (a public media institution which provides the advertising related to the public broadcaster’s programmes) on advertising and privacy questions related to the technical and commercial developments surrounding the online exploitation of advertisements. They also regularly advise STER on issues relating to its agreements.


Intellectual Property

Anne Bekema represents Unilever Plc. in proceedings concerning one of its most successful personal care brands. Unilever has instituted proceedings in several European jurisdictions claiming the invalidity of similar national trademark registrations of a competitor.
