Georgina was admitted to the Bar in 2016. She advises and litigates on a regular basis regarding (cross-border) trademark infringements for well-known clients. Furthermore, Georgina advises clients in the media sector in matters concerning unlawful publications. Besides her work in soft IP and media law, she represents clients in the FMCG sector in cases before the Dutch Advertising Code Committee.

In addition to her daily work as a lawyer, Georgina is a board member of the Dutch Association for Media and Communications Law, member of the editorial board of documentation of the media law journal ‘Mediaforum’ and legal advisor to a family foundation on a pro bono basis.

  • MORAL RIGHTS OF ARCHITECT WIM QUIST

    Wim Quist is one of the greatest Dutch architects of his time and has designed some of the Netherlands’ most iconic buildings. Georgina successfully relied on his moral rights in preliminary relief proceedings concerning plans for an extension of one of the buildings he designed in Rotterdam.

  • ADVERTISEMENT ADVISE FOR ARLA

    Georgina advises the legal team of Arla Foods on a regular basis regarding various trademark and advertising matters, amongst others Arla Foods trademark strategy and proceedings at the Dutch Advertising Board.

  • TRADE NAME VICTORY FOR A LAW FIRM

    Georgina successfully represented VanGoud Advocaten (a Dutch law firm) in proceedings before the Court of Appeal of the Hague concerning the use of a similar trade name by a competitor.

  • ADVISOR FOR McDONALDS

    Georgina is McDonald’s go-to lawyer in the Netherlands regarding Media and IP related matters after a six month secondment at McDonald’s Dutch HQ.

  • REPRESENTATION OF BROADCASTER VPRO

    Successfully represented Dutch broadcaster VPRO in preliminary proceedings before the District Court of Midden-Nederland against a journalist who was subject of a television program called Medialogica.

  • ENFORCEMENTS OF IP RIGHTS IN PEAKY BLINDERS

    Endemol and Caryn Mandabach Productions own the global IP rights on the very popular Netflix series ‘Peaky Blinders’, including merchandise. Anne Bekema and Georgina Nühn enforced those IP rights in the Netherlands against several entities.

  • LITIGATION REGARDING PUBLICATION ON CELEBRITY COUPLE

    Successfully represented publisher Mediahuis in summary proceedings started by a Dutch celebrity, concerning a publication in the magazine Privé regarding a relationship between two well-known Dutch celebrities.

In the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister), Georgina Nühn has registered ‘Intellectual Property Law’ and ‘Civil Procedure Law; Litigation’ as her legal practice areas. Based on this registration, Georgina is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each of these legal practice areas in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
